Individual and Group Clinical Supervision for Registered and Qualifying Psychotherapists in Barrie, ON
Therapy is both a science and an art. While the scientific principles can often be learned in a traditional classroom setting, developing and mastering the art of therapy can be more challenging. What’s more, therapy is an inherently private undertaking between therapist and client, with no managers or direct supervisors present.
For these reasons, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) requires each Qualifying registrant to receive ongoing clinical supervision while they are a Qualifying member. To enter the Registered Psychotherapist category, they must receive 100 hours of clinical supervision. Before becoming licensed to practice, a Registered Psychotherapist member must receive ongoing clinical supervision until they have completed 1,000 direct client contact hours and 150 hours of clinical supervision.
The Goals of Clinical Supervision
Through clinical supervision, a therapist can learn by doing. Instead of relying on vague textbook guidance, a supervisee can benefit from real-time feedback on real-world therapy dilemmas from a more skilled and experienced clinician.
Sweet Spot Family Counselling is pleased to offer clinical supervision for Qualifying and Registered Psychotherapists in Barrie, Ontario. We have created a supportive, relaxed, and fun learning environment where we encourage our supervisees to candidly share feedback and ask questions about general therapy as well as specific cases.
Individual and Dyadic Supervision ($100/Dyad $190/Individual)
We offer individual clinical supervision to help pre-licensed counsellors meet the CRPO requirements for independent practice and find their unique voice in therapy. This is also a good option for seasoned therapists who would like to broaden their skills, build self-confidence, and challenge themselves to “level up.” By developing strong supervisor-supervisee relationships, we create alignment for enhanced goal-setting and better outcomes.
Group Supervision ($65-$75)
Led by an experienced clinical supervisor, group supervision provides both new and experienced clinicians with valuable opportunities to connect with and learn from their colleagues. In a safe space, participants can share personal experiences, contemplate varied viewpoints, and ask general questions related to ethics and procedures. Group supervision can also build a reliable social network that can counter some of the loneliness and isolation faced by some clinicians in private practice.
